Suzuki Swift, the name is both a mystery and has a lot of clarity to it at the same time. Swift is running down the Philippines auto arena for quite some time now and is eventually building a strong consumer base. But when an individual says Swift that is not enough to understand as to which car he is mentioning. Suzuki has created two Swift – one preceded by a ‘1.2’ tag and other by ‘Dzire.’
Often when a non-specialist ends up at Suzuki‘s store, the individual is seen asking a question – What apart from their shape (hatch & subcompact sedan) and the price make them different?
Bringing an end to the issue, we thought of comparing both the cars at various parameters, thus ending this long-lived consumer curiosity.
Suzuki Swift 1.2 hails from the hatchback segment as can be seen from its images. On the other hand, cars like Dzire fall in the sub-compact sedan category (as they are a bit compact than a full-fledged sedan). Moving on to the dimensions, with a difference in their body shape will come distinction in their respective size.
Next, important aspect about a car is the mill that powers it. In the case of Swift 1.2, it is quite clear that it withholds a 1.2-litre engine. As for Dzire, though it’s not mentioned in its name, it is powered by the same 1.2-litre DOHC 16V with VVT engine. Also, there is no tuning change with both offering same power output of 87 hp @ 6,000 rpm along with peak torque of 114 Nm @ 4,000 rpm.
Coming to transmission, both the cars are available with 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission option.
