Art Fair Philippines 2020, slated for 21-23 February at The Link carpark in Makati City, will introduce a new section called ArtFairPH/Open Studios. This section complements ArtFairPH/Talks to expand the learning opportunities at the fair.

ArtFairPH/Open Studios

ArtFairPH/Open Studios will present a series of workshops and demos with respected practitioners in the fields of arts and culture.

There will be a 2-day photography workshop with Paco Guerrero, open to participants who have an intermediate level knowledge of photography. The second part will revolve around a panel discussion on the participants’ work with guest lectures.

ArtFairPH/Open Studios will also present workshops on watercolor with multi-media artist Claude Tayag, lighting techniques for photographers with Neal Oshima and Mark Nicdao, working with wood with one of the finest woodworkers in the world Benji Reyes.

There will also be a workshop on making your own wet and dry cyanotype with Alexis Oshima and Angela Silva, and a Sculptural Planter-Making workshop with Rita Gudiño of Tahanan Pottery. The Association of Pinoyprintmakers will also hold a workshop on the techniques of relief printing and for developing a greater appreciation for the art of printmaking.

Sculptor and YouTuber Carlos Quevedo (Morisato 54) will also conduct a lecture demo on his creative process of 21st Century Automata.

ArtFairPH/Talks

ArtFairPH/Talks will feature a panel on award-winning artist Onib Olmedo, who is best known for his expressionistic figurative paintings and for his contribution in founding the Filipino Expressionist movement, and a discussion on the primacy of the idea and of process in Sol LeWitt’s art by guest curator Carina Evangelista.
