The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) held its sixth annual Sport Conference in Manila last Monday, June 4. This marks the first time that the conference was held in Asia.
FIA president Jean Todt officially opened the annual event, with the theme of “Empowering the Future: Unlocking Motor Sport’s Potential”.
Before the opening of the event, Todt discussed the FIA’s mission to provide access and promote motor sports to the world.
“Providing as many people as possible with access to motor sport is one of the main priorities for the FIA and its clubs worldwide,” said Todt.
“Motor sport has a crucial role in our society”, Todt adds, “it is an inspiration to millions of people around the world, and a powerful platform for educating young people in terms of the skills and attributes required to succeed.”
The conference received warm welcomes from several leaders in the Philippines, including Cynthia Lazo, National Capital Region Director in the Department of Tourism, the Honourable Emy Calixto, Pasay City Congresswoman, and Augusto Lagman, President of the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP).
The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), is a governing body for many of the biggest auto racing events in the world, such as Formula One, World Rally Championship, and World Endurance Championship.
