Despite the anxiety and stress the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) has brought upon us, many Filipinos remain motivated to lend a helping hand.

At times like this, people tend to reveal their truest selves. And celebrities are no exception, many of whom are stepping up and putting their privilege to good use, assisting those who have had their livelihoods impacted by the pandemic.

These past few weeks, we’ve seen some celebrities like Almira Teng of Wowowin, Miss International Queen 2012, Kevin Balot, Genesis Redido of (UST Volleyball team), Veronica Gualberto (Instagram influencer), Benik Monterola (Marketing Director of Legion Music Festival), Vincent Mimay (Owner of BenMarks premium craft beer) joining Love Plus Charity foundation in a donation drive in Tejeros, Makati and Payatas Quezon City.

Love Plus is a charity foundation mainly sponsored by the Filipino-Chinese community in the National Capital Region. It is founded by Flash Global Media, Wowcow Group and YUMMY Group. Their mission is to love, protect and empower the less fortunate groups financially affected by COVID-19 and frontliners who are risking their lives to save Philippines.

According to Benik Angeles, Marketing Director of Legion Music Festival who is also a huge supporter of Love Plus, the foundation has been doing this since the start of pandemic. They were able to provide a total of 30 Million worth of food and medical supplies for almost 50 thousand families, 50 hospitals and 400 checkpoints.

“We are actually organizing an online concert for a cause on June 5, 2020 with Kyline Alcantara in Legion Music Festival’s YouTube channel (Legion CH) to raise more funds. We are encouraging more privileged citizens to donate and we can guarantee that 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Love Plus Charity foundation” Benik says.
