The provincial government in Davao Oriental is providing free accommodation to doctors and nurses who are currently assigned at the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC), province’s biggest hospital.

In a statement, the provincial government said a total of 10 doctors and eight nurses who are not residents of the province have benefited from the free accommodation.

It said the health workers are currently staying at the newly renovated Provincial Government-run Sangguniang Panlalawigan Dormitel at the provincial government complex at Barangay Dahican in Mati City.

They were provided with complete basic amenities. The facility is deemed conducive where the doctors and nurses can rest comfortably after a hard day’s work at the medical facility, it added.

Along with the free accommodation, free food is also being afforded to the front-liners.

Governor Nelson Dayanghirang said that as most doctors and nurses are from this city and other neighboring provinces, the free accommodation will help avoid travel while the province is under the strict implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

“Personnel from the Provincial Tourism Office are attending to the residents’ needs to ensure that they will be provided with what they need,” Dayanghirang said.

Dr. Reden Bersaldo, DOPMC chief of hospital, thanked the provincial government for the assistance to the doctors and nurses who are crucial to the operation of the provincial hospital. (PNA)
