Two mobile coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) serology testing clinics were launched Monday in two barangays in the city of Manila.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso led the launching in Barangay 97, Zone 8 in Tondo and Barangay 836, Zone 91 in Pandacan.

Domagoso said the two mobile testing centers will be deployed in different barangays of the city on a daily basis, as part of efforts to strengthen its community-based testing especially in areas with a high incidence of Covid-19 cases.

“This is the start of our saturation drive in the city. Kapag kayo ay napuntahan, ibig sabihin kayo ay may pinakamaraming nag-positive sa Covid. May dapat tayong ipag-alala, may dapat tayong pangambahan (If your area is chosen, this means that your place has a high number of Covid-19 cases. We have to worry, and there is something to be afraid of),” he said in a speech.

Domagoso emphasized the importance of self-discipline especially during this time of pandemic.

While he assured everyone that the city government of Manila will continue to be aggressive in its fight against Covid-19, he also cited the relevance of public cooperation by following the imposed health protocols such as wearing of face mask, observing safe physical distancing, frequent washing of hands and staying indoors as much as possible.

“Gagawin naming ang lahat-lahat, pero hindi kami magtatagupay kapag ang tao ay nagpabaya sa sarili niya. Ang susi ng tagumpay nasa tao, dahil ang virus ay hindi naglalakad, ang tao ang naglalakad, ang tao ang nagpaparami. Kapag iyon nilagay niyo sa inyong isipan, tingin ko tayo’y mag-iingat (We will do everything, but we will not succeed if the people do not have self-discipline. The key to this is in the people because the virus is not walking, it’s the people who are walking and spreading the virus. If you always remember that, I think everyone will take care),” he said.

Domagoso reiterated his commitment to serve every Manilenyo especially in this crucial period, and that the city government will try to embrace everyone and deliver efficient services to its constituents.

Currently, the city has almost covered every platform in its campaign against Covid-19 with its two drive-thru testing centers, two walk-in testing centers, and this time, two mobile testing centers. (PNA)
