The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday reported 1,657 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, raising the overall tally to 82,040.

The DOH said the additional cases reported were based on the total tests done by 59 out of 90 operational laboratories across the country.

Sixty-five duplicates were removed from the total case count and of these, 23 recovered cases and two deaths have been removed,” the DOH said.

It also updated that one case previously reported has been validated to be an active case.

The DOH further noted 53,649 active cases, about 90 percent of which are mild, 9.1 percent are asymptomatic, 0.5 percent are severe, and 0.4 percent are critical.

As of Monday, a total of 1,262,416 individual tests were performed by the 71 licensed RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) laboratories and 23 licensed GeneXpert laboratories nationwide.

A total of 16,400 beds are dedicated to patients infected with Covid-19.

Occupied are about 53 percent of 1,400 intensive care unit beds; 51 percent of 11,200 isolation beds; and 57 percent of 3,800 ward beds.
