The Office of Senator Christopher Lawrence Go turned over medical equipment and 71 sacks of rice to the front-liners at Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, on Monday.
In a statement Tuesday, the senator’s office said it turned over to DRMC a unit of non-invasive ventilator with humidifier and heated tube, which will be used to assist patients with severe respiratory infections experiencing breathing difficulty.
“The assistance provided were donations from private donors that were coursed through my office. This is one way of expressing our gratitude to these front-liners,” Go was quoted as saying.
Go said his office continues to help the government efforts to contain Covid-19 by acting as a bridge for private entities that wish to give donations to intended beneficiaries around the country while ensuring that donations immediately reach those who need help the most.
According to the senator, his office has facilitated the donation of personal protective suits, surgical masks, gloves, alcohol, acrylic boxes, and face shields to DRMC since the Covid-19 outbreak last month.
“Because of this crisis, many private donors approached our office and asked us how to send help to the front-liners. We help them in finding the right beneficiaries and vice versa,” Go said.
Earlier, Go’s staff and supporters facilitated the delivery of private donations consisting of medical supplies to various hospitals, institutions, and front-liners in Davao Region and the rest of Mindanao.
Go’s office also facilitated the turnover of sacks of rice for around 450 front-liners, including janitors, guards, and other staff, at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).
Go then thanked all private entities and businesses that have expressed their willingness to assist the front-liners.
“In this time of crisis, both the government and the private sector must work together and do what we can to address and respond to the growing threats of Covid-19. Magbayanihan po tayo,” Go added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Bryan O. Dalid, Medical Center Chief of DRMC, expressed his gratitude to the senator for facilitating the turnover of the ventilator to the hospital, and rice supply to all their medical front-liners.
“On behalf of Davao Regional Medical Center, we thank Senator Bong Go for the donations given to the hospital and the front-liners,” Dalid said. (PNA)
